How to Use ARTstor

A guide to finding, viewing and using digital images from ARTstor.

What is ARTstor?

The ARTstor Digital Library features 1.8 million images from some of the world’s leading museums, photo archives, scholars, and artists. ARTstor is a non-profit organization focused on research and education in art and visual studies, architecture, religion, anthropology and archeology, global studies, fashion and costume, classics, world history, and more. Access these images for teaching, research, and study.

ARTstor Quick Start Guide

ARTstor Access @ NECC

You can browse ARTstor collections from any NECC library computer, but in order to download or save content, you will need to

REGISTER for an ARTstor user account.

Access to your account will remain active off-campus so long as you sign-in to ARTstor on campus or through the NECC library website within 120 days.  Every time you sign-in on campus or through the library's website your account is reset for another 120 days.

 

How to Register for an ARTstor User Account:

  1. You must be on-campus at NECC or logged in through the NECC library proxy server. Access the Artstor Digital Library.
  2. Look to the upper right side of the screen, under Welcome to ARTstor, and click Register
  3. A registration form will appear. Enter your valid student email address, create your password, select your role at our institution, and select the academic department/class you are affiliated with. (DO NOT use symbols in your password)
  4. Use the checkboxes to opt-in or out of the monthly newsletter and annual user survey.
  5. Click Submit.
  6. You will automatically be logged in to your new account. The Log In area will change to display a welcome message and your email address.
