How do I incorporate the Library chat into my course?

Providing a direct link to the library chat can be beneficial for students, who are seeking resources for their assignments, or need assistance with academic technology. To incorporate the library chat into your Blackboard course, you must do as if you're sharing a web link.

How do I attach the Library Appointments tool to my course?

The process of attaching Navigate appointment page to Blackboard follows the same process as sharing a web link.

FAQ

How do I know which services the library can provide online?

The NECC Library Website has a section about the services that are being provided during the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) pandemic. This page includes updated information on all the services the library is providing, including online services. Additionally, the library has a guide about accessing library services remotely, titled "When You Can't Come to the Library" (Spanish version: "Cuando no puedes visitar la biblioteca presencialmente"). Our Research Guides are available 24/7. These Research Guides include online resources pertinent to each discipline and subject. The library also has a Citation Guide, which discusses various citation styles (MLAAPA 7, and Chicago). If you have any questions, the library staff is available via chat or text messaging through the library's homepage.

Can students see the library resources through their mobile devices?

Students can access all library services via their mobile devices (ex. smartphone and tablets). This includes the ability to book an appointment, chat, access the NECC Library website, visit the library libguides and research guides, and its databases. All our library services are compatible with mobile technology.

"Help! I need more assistance with my class!"

If you need help incorporating library resources that are not listed or explained in this guide, you can contact the library via email, or chat. You can also make an appointment with any of our research librarians or academic technologists. NECC also has a Blackboard Help page that can aid you with some FAQ or issues. You can also browse Blackboard's dedicated page for instructors

How do I know what are my library credentials?

Your library credentials are the same as your library card number. These are automatically generated based on your faculty/staff ID number. Your credentials will be activated at the moment that you are employed at NECC. You do not need a physical library card. All you need is your library card number.

Your library card number is 203850 + your 8-digit faculty ID, located in your NECC ID card. For instance, if your ID number is 00112233, your library card number will be as follows 20385000112233. If you're logging in for the first time or have not changed your password, this should be your 8-digit birthdate. For instance, if your birthday is April 15, 1996, your password will be 04151996.

If these credentials do not work, you can try resetting the password using the My Library Account link or contacting the library.
