The increasing cost of textbooks has become a major concern at colleges and universities across the country. Several state and federal laws (see below) have stemmed from these concerns, putting new requirements on higher education programs to post textbook requirements prior to students registering for courses. This guide was adapted by a subcommittee of the task force, in order to create a resource for faculty who would like to explore alternatives to traditional college textbooks.
